Does This Sound Like You?
Typically the story we hear goes something like this…“When I wake up every morning the first couple of steps are really painful but after 5-10 minutes the pain starts to subside a little. I usually can make it through my day but I can always feel a little discomfort in my foot. If I try to run or jog the pain increases thus causing me to stop which is very frustrating. I went to my podiatrist and was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. I was given a steroid injection in my foot (which was very uncomfortable) but provided me with temporary relief allowing me to tolerate jogging and walking again. After about a month or two the pain returned but this time it was a little worse than before. My podiatrist told me that I could go back for another injection in 3 or 4 months if the pain returned but I want lasting solutions and not just a quick fix. I really don’t want surgery or injections but I’m starting to feel like that is my only option. I just want to be able to run around the yard with my (grand)children, go jogging, or workout without this pain.” If this sounds like you, I want you to know that something can be done to provide lasting results other than pain medication, surgery, or injections.

When addressing foot pain it is important to determine the TRUE causation of the discomfort. Most foot pain, plantar fasciitis, and shin splints actually originate from other places other than just the foot itself. What if I told you weakness in hips could lead to foot pain? When addressing foot pain it is paramount to look at not just the foot but also other structures that play a pivotal role on the foot. It is also important to determine your foot type (neutral, flat, or overarched) which can also play a role in foot/ankle discomfort especially plantar fasciitis.
If you are ready to start your journey to FINALLY achieve long lasting results, I want to offer you a Completely FREE, No Obligation discovery session to determine how ProActive Physical Therapy and Wellness can help get you back to being Active without foot/ankle pain!
If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, you are in the right place!
You see, many people with foot pain in Louisville suffer unnecessarily because they’re told…
Just “rest it” and it’ll be fine (then months later they’re still suffering…)
It’s “normal” with women and men my age to suffer with plantar fasciitis
If you take some pills everything will be fine.
Foot surgery is the only option.
The Truth is....
Resting it doesn’t change anything. You might get a small temporary relief, but then when you get active again you’ll still be suffering from platar fasciitis and heel pain (I bet you’ve already experienced it!)
It’s not normal to get back pain and sciatica as you get older!
Pain pills are addicting, dangerous, and can cause a lot of other problems with your body.
Heel surgery is not the only option. It’s just the only option your surgeon can offer you.
Talk To A Physical Therapist
At ProActive Physical Therapy, We Help Active Adults Get Back to Working Out and Enjoying an Active Lifestyle Without Surgery and Costly Procedures!
It can be very confusing to decide exactly exactly what you should do if you have plantar fasciitis. You’ve likely heard a lot of options such as…
A family member tells you that it’s normal and “just happens” when you get older
A colleague mentions going to a chiropractor
The “experts” on YouTube recommend doing a certain exercise
A friend suggests going to a new type of exercise class
All while the doctor tells you to guzzle pain pills
At ProActive Physical Therapy, we’ve created a 5 step process to get rid of your pain AND make sure it doesn’t come back again.
- Step 1 -
Laying the Groundwork
Most physical therapy clinics are not attentive, they’re fast paced, and your therapist doesn’t have time to actually touch where you hurt.
This is why our first step is to listen to you story.
After working with countless people with heel pain, we know that no two people are alike. Each person has a different body, a different history, and different types of pain. That is why our first step is to have an open conversation and time for you to tell your story. That way we get a deep understanding of what’s going on not just with your body, but also how it’s impacting your life.
- Step 2 -
We Find Out WHY Your Heel Pain or Plantar Fasciitis Started
The next step comes in the form of a Discovery Visit.
We understand the unease we all inevitably feel when committing to something new or unfamiliar. We want our clients to be comfortable with their decision to receive Proactive care! During these Discovery Visits, we sit down with you, one-on-one, listen to your story, examine you, answer any questions you have, and we let you know what’s going on and what can be done to alleviate it.
If you are still skeptical and unsure if physical therapy is right for you…that’s fine. That is why we created the Discovery Session.
- Step 3 -
Customized Program To Help You Ease Pain and Restore Your Mobility
People are usually told to stretch or given a sheet of exercises from doctors for their back pain. But the problem is, moving or stretching irritated muscles can only increase the pain! Without proper guidance, doing the WRONG stretches or exercises can make the situation worse. It is critical that BEFORE you start to stretch or exercise it is important to alleviate pain with movement.

- Step 4 -
Retrain Your Brain-Body Connection
Most people think that once the pain is gone, the body is healed. This is simply not true! Most people don’t realize that chronic pain causes your body to develop bad compensation habits.
Examples of these”compensations” might be:
*Using you hands to push on your thighs to stand up after you’ve bent forward to pick something up from the ground.
*Putting more weight to one side of the body because of increased pain when standing too long.
*Using momentum to stand upright from a bed, or out of a chair, because of achiness or pain.
*Leaning forward too much because it relieves pain.
Why Does This Happen?
*Because the brain interprets certain movements as harmful when you have pain!
*Most pain exercises you see on YouTube, or learn from traditional physical therapy, only focuses on building strength or increasing mobility, they do nothing to restore the very critical brain-body connections.
*At Proactive Physical Therapy, our exercise program offers much more than a “sheet of strength exercises”, or some mobility stretches
We do this by giving you complete one-on-one focused attention in every single movement that applies to your goals.
This Will Allow You To:
*Restore your confidence in performing ALL movements that you were fearful of doing throughout the day
*Return to exercising with PROPER guidance so you don’t have to worry about hurting yourself again
*Develop ‘Brain-Body Awareness’ so you are able to self-correct any improper movement during exercise
- Step 5 -
Optimize Your Quality Of Life
Our best clients are people who are motivated and committed to becoming active again, even if they sometimes feel stuck in their current situation.
If you are willing to put in some effort and open to learning about your body, and you are ready to get back to the quality of life you deserve, then Proactive PT would be a great fit for you.
You Can Expect:
*A life where you can sit and drive without heel pain, or having to pull over every 20 minutes to stretch
*A life where you can bend forward to pick things off the floor, without having to sit down from pain
*Get back to exercising without having to worry about hurting yourself again
*Be able to play with your kids or grand kids, without having to slow down or take pain pills
*Be able to get a restful sleep and wake up with less pain and more energy
*Return to your pre-injury active lifestyle, without having to rely on pills, injections, creams, or surgery
