Our Treatment Approach To Help You Live the Active and Healthy Lifestyle That You Deserve Free Of Pain Pills, Surgeries and Injections
- We first have to get a clear understanding of your specific wants, needs, values and concerns. No two people are the same (even if they have the same injury) thus it is imperative to determine what a successful outcome looks like to YOU.
- We have to do a thorough evaluation to determine the TRUE causation of your symptoms. Often the area in which you are having pain is not the TRUE source of your pain. Many times than not its other structures (muscles, tendons, joints, etc...) that have stopped doing their job therefore leading to overcompensation and injury. For example, imagine playing tug of war with a team of 5 people. If 3 of the 5 people stop pulling then the other 2 people have to pull harder to produce the same amount of force. The other 2 people may be able to do this for a short period of time but eventually they will become fatigued and/or injured. This is what happens when an individual experiences non-traumatic pain/discomfort.
- We have to reduce/eliminate the pain in the irritated area and start making modifications to your everyday activities. We pride ourselves on never telling anyone that they need to STOP what they are doing as we don’t believe in that. We just need to make modifications to the activities that could have been a potential catalyst to your pain.
- We help you regain full mobility and range of motion in ALL areas that could potentially have an effect on the injured site. We can’t stress enough how important this is. In the human body you have muscles that perform an action (agonists) but you also have muscles that do the exact opposite of that particular action (antagonists). Let us look at turning your head right and left as an example. You have muscles that are responsible for turning your head to the right (agonists) but on the flip side of that you have muscles responsible for turning your head to the left (antagonists) so they do the exact opposite of one another. Therefore to be able to fully turn your head to the right, the muscles responsible for turning your head to the left must have the flexibility and mobility to allow this to happen. If these muscles (left turning muscles) are shortened, or tight, then you will never be able to fully turn your head to the right. With this being said it is imperative to gain full mobility of the antagonist muscles to allow the agonist muscles to fully do their job.
- We help you stabilize the weak structures so that they are now able to perform their job. Once we get to this point we start to focus on building the foundation of your body. We like to tell people to think of your body like a house. You have your foundation/structural muscles (your stability muscles) that are responsible for keeping your body upright and stable. Then you have your aesthetic muscles that are designed to create power. Just like a house, if your foundation is weak it's a matter of time until the body fails leading to overcompensation and eventually pain and discomfort. Back to the tug of war analogy. We now have to get the 3 individuals that stopped pulling to start pulling (working) again to take stress off the other 2 that were being overworked.
- Once your foundation is strong we start to focus on improving your overall performance (based on what you told us your successful outcome looks like). For example, if pickleball is your passion we start strengthening your body in ways that will allow you to play pickleball multiple times per week with no setbacks.
- The last step is the maintenance and ascension phase. You have achieved the ability to be active and healthy but we want to ensure that you continue to do the activities you love with no setbacks. Research shows that roughly 5% of people continue to do their stretching and strengthening as instructed after completing a program. So what typically happens is the individual is feeling great and starts to increase the frequency that they are performing their preferred activity but then stops doing the things that allowed them to do the activity in the first place. This is a recipe for disaster thus we have created programs to ensure that you stay on top of your game (whatever that looks like to you)!

For years, Dr. Evans has been helping people just like YOU achieve their healthcare and lifestyle goals. Dr. Evans believes that YOU deserve a healthcare professional that takes time to get to know you as an individual and actually listen to your specific concerns, needs, and values. He believes that EVERYONE deserves an active lifestyle free from pain medication and expensive surgeries. He also understands the mental toll that pain can have on an individual. Dr. Evans believes that today’s medical field relies too heavily on “RE”active medicine leading to expensive surgeries and prolonged use of pain medication. Though Brandon is well trained in treating injuries and pain, he envisions a community in which medical professionals take a ProActive approach to medicine to address injuries and discomforts in the incipient phase.
